Therapeutic Inclusive Program

Spectrum Academy, as part of the School & School family, in addition to being the “coolest” place for kids on the spectrum, aims to research and develop methods of diagnosing and treating neurodevelopmental disorders in children, starting from speech difficulties, attention disorders, behavior, learning, memory, communication and autism.

DIFFERENT KIND OF ACADEMY

We at “Spectrum Academy” believe that every child is unique and that their parents/caregivers are an essential part of the intervention, because only in partnership with parents and early diagnosis can we develop personalized intervention plans to help the child integrate into social life and achieve their full potential. For the record, neurodevelopmental disorders are a group of conditions that affect the growth and development of a child’s brain. It can affect an individual’s language, emotions, behavior, self-control, self-esteem, learning and memory. Delays or deficits usually appear early in a child’s development, many times before a child enters elementary school, and can continue throughout an individual’s life. They can be limited in nature, for example affecting only speech or learning, or deficits can be global and affect intelligence, learning, communication, social skills, behavior and daily functioning together. Examples of neurodevelopmental disorders include attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), autism spectrum disorder (ASD), communication disorders, intellectual development disorder, motor disorders, and specific learning disorders. It is not unusual for these disorders to occur together.

MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM

The first few years of a child’s life are the most important for development, especially when we know that they learn the fastest during that period. A child’s brain develops rapidly and is constantly in search of learning new skills and adopting new behaviors, therefore children with developmental disabilities benefit most from early intervention when it is provided between the ages of 18 months and 4 years.
Spectrum disorder and speech disorder are diagnosed already at the age of 2 and attention disorder at the age of 4, it is crucial that every child starts intervention as soon as possible. Skills acquired in early intervention programs have the greatest chance of leading to significant development in a child.

Why is autism increasing dramatically? –
There are several answers to this question, three are key:
– Comprehensive screening: In most of the developed world, children between 18 and 24 months of age must be screened for autism during routine visits to the pediatrician.
– Increased awareness: There is a growing public awareness of autism.
– Better access to healthcare: Easier access to healthcare facilities has improved autism detection and increased overall prevalence.

From the above, we conclude that early diagnosis is essential, but it is not enough by itself, it is necessary to make a strategic intervention planning that includes setting both short- and medium-term, as well as long-term goals. According to us, the key to success lies in the parents!

Our approach is different!

Using combinations of non-invasive therapeutic methods such as behavioral, family, developmental and occupational therapies, our goal is to find the best approach that will maximize the child’s talent and potential.
We deeply believe that regardless of difficulties, every child hides certain tendencies and talents, therefore our methodology, in addition to intensive therapeutic treatments, includes inclusion with children with typical development, which aims to, through occupational therapies, i.e. programs of multiple intelligences, which is developed by Dr. Howard Gardner, we discover the child’s interests, talents and passions.

Thanks to a specially designed program based on multiple intelligences, the participants of “Spectrum Academy” have the opportunity to find their talent and passion for a certain sphere of interest through fine, applied and technical sciences, which will make it easier for them to choose a potential future academic and professional career. The goal of this treatment is to create a creative and stimulating environment, and then to observe, discover, develop and nurture talent in children, encouraging them to find the source of their own inspiration and aspirations!
The first goal of such a holistic intervention program is to provide the users of our Academy with the space and time during which they will have the opportunity to find their interest, and the professional staff and therapists the opportunity to recognize the child’s interests and talent in certain activities through direct observation. Another goal is to discover and develop children’s talent. The third goal is to build self-confidence. The fourth goal is to provide the necessary individual educational and pedagogical support tailored to each child in their independent expression. The fifth goal is to guide the child on the right path!
