DIFFERENT KIND OF SCHOOL

BioTech as an interdisciplinary program is a broad field of study that enables children to learn creatively about “the doctrine of the future” and that way; biology and astrobiology, astronomy, genetics, molecular and microbiology, biochemistry, bioengineering, informatics and robotics. Students will have a unique opportunity to study the life from cell to body in School & School BioTech Lab. The aim of the program is to “awaken the desire and the need to explore the organism and the environment of the earth and the universe, and the impacts of one on the other.” BioTech is an introduction to future technology that is based on the design and development of new devices that make life easier for humans and animals, the production of new biomaterials, artificial tissues and organs, the development and production of medical devices and preparations, as well as designing and providing solutions for environmental protection .
The breadth of the program allows students to find their own area of interest, explore and discover, design new and better biomedical solutions. The program is intended for children who have pronounced naturalistic intelligence, compassion for others to humans and animals, love for nature and space, also, who have creativity and the desire to bring ideas into biotechnological solutions for the benefit of the entire humanity.

BIOWORLD EXPLORER & EARTH (age 10 - 11). Let's Explore!

The first year of BioTech as an interdisciplinary program is devoted to: A). Getting to know the environment. B). Familiarizing students with cell structure and function, genetic material at microscopic level, its organization, distribution, and inheritance mechanisms. C). The ways and types of propagation of living beings and stages evolve and the position of organisms and their relationships in every biosphere. The focus is on observing, analyzing and researching the organization of a living world at the cellular and molecular levels. Also, through the green house project and the factors of changeableness, students will have the opportunity to find a concept that does nothing the same yesterday, today, tomorrow, which introduces them into critical thinking and setting up logical and interesting scientific questions. In the end, ecology and environmental protection will have the goal of ecologically raising children, positioning them as future bearers of responsibility for the survival and development of human civilization.

Subjects of study: The environment, the basis of cytology and molecular biology, botany, zoology, biology of reproductive and development, genetics. Introduction to Astronomy and Astrobiology. The program includes study visits and laboratory research.

During the school year, pupils will have the opportunity to work individually or teamly on moderately complex and medium-complex bio-projects.

Classes are held in both mother language and English. The percentage of lectures in English depends on the average level of knowledge of the whole classroom.

The course lasts 8.5 months (Sep – Jun) or 4.5 months (Feb – Jun). Winter break from 1. till 31. of January. The weekly number of hours is 2 hours (1 x 120 min), with a break of 5 -7 minutes after 30 minutes. Monthly amount is 8 hours (4 x 120 min).

Number of participants in groups – max 10. Participants are grouped according to age and level of knowledge. During the school year, the commitment and progress of the students is regularly monitored, at the end of each month and semester in the form of short oral and written tests, while at the end of the school year students take the final exam, after which they get the right to receive the School & School attendance certificate successfully completed schooling.

BIOLIFE (age 11 -12). Let's Create!

The second year of BioTech as an interdisciplinary program is devoted to: Extending knowledge from histology, organography, focusing on anatomy and physiology of plants and humans. The task of the program is to acquaint students with the structure and function of plant and animal tissues, organs, organic apparatus, organs and organism’s system. The curriculum is put into the function of explaining and analyzing a unique organization of the living world on a molecular, cellular and individual level … The focus is on observing, analyzing, and exploring the living organism at the cellular and molecular levels.

Subjects of study: Anatomy and physiology of plants, animals and humans. Study of astronomy and astrobiology, and comparative data analysis of planet earth and other platitudes of the solar system. The program includes study visits and laboratory research.

During the school year, students will have the opportunity to work individually or teamly on medium-complex and complex bio-projects.

 Classes are held in both mother language and English. The percentage of lectures in English depends on the average level of knowledge of the whole classroom.

BIOCHEM (age 12 -13). Let's Innovate!

The third year of BioTech as an interdisciplinary program is devoted to: Introduction of students to basic areas of Biochemistry, whose contents are essential for understanding important biological processes, in accordance with contemporary scientific achievements. Biochemistry studies the chemical composition of organisms, as well as the changes that these ingredients are exposed to in a number of reactions that take place in the body. Program contents help to acquire basic knowledge from complex biochemical areas as well as their number in nature. The acquired knowledge can be applied in everyday life, which can influence the improvement of living conditions!

Subjects of study: Chemical composition of organisms, carbohydrates, lipids, amino acids, peptides and proteins. Nucleic Acids, Organic Reactions in Live Organisms, Introduction to Biotechnology. Study of astronomy and astrobiology, and comparative data analysis of planet earth and other platitudes of the solar system. The program includes study visits and laboratory research.

During the school year, students will have the opportunity to work individually or teamly on complex bio-projects.

BIOTECH DEVELOPER (age 13 - 14). Let's Develope!

The fourth year of BioTech is intended for creative design and development of a simple prototype of a specific bio or medical aids that will give participants individual and team development throughout the school year. The focus is on the synergy of biology and contemporary technology, that is, solving a particular medical problem through advanced technology. Throughout the school year, students will have the opportunity to get acquainted with different technology platforms such as programming, web design, robotic engineering. The course aims to provide students with insight into bioengineering and technological trends as well as their causal and consequential effects on man and humanity. It is a different and wider perspective, thanks to which students can find their love, future academic and professional vocation. It is a talent or ability to consecrate your future to what really interests them most. If you engage in passion for studying, we will know with certainty that we all succeeded!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION ABOUT PROGRAMS

  • Reservation is confirmed by registration and payment of the first module (1 month) in the school itself or by payment to the bank account.
  • Payment is payable (monthly) and is done by 10th of each month for the current month, by paying to the bank account or cash at the school itself.
  • Original textbooks and workbooks, software tools licenses (robotics & programming) are not included in the cost of the cost and represent a one-off expense at the beginning of the school year. The cost of textbooks and workbook will be available at the beginning of the school year.
  • The price includes other teaching materials, academic coaching, fun & art class, progress report, flashcards, placement test, periodic and final tests, School & School Certificate.
  • The course lasts 8.5 months (Sep – Jun), depending on the date of enrollment, after which the attendees are eligible for the School & School Certificate.
  • 6 participants are the minimum required to form one classroom. Groups are small and comprise up to 10 participants. The aim is to dedicate the professor to each student and to achieve their individually set goals.
  • The course take place in two variants and are tailored to the participants, 1 variant – working days; 2 variants – Saturday.
  • Parent discount for two or more children (5% per child), for two or more discounted programs is 5% (per subject).
  • Note: The price for special programs, individual classes and dedicated customized tuition to the needs of the student is especially contracted.

EVALUATION OF KNOWLEDGE AND DISCOVERY TALENTS

For each group and student individually, a special diary is kept of the results of the student activities performed and the final grade on the monthly, semi-annual and annual basis. The diary contains the results from the teaching process, which records the presence, quality of the tasks performed, the student’s knowledge (quiz), the activity at the moment, and the final monthly test, which analyzes progress, work habits and student motivation. An important part of the diary is the observation and recommendation of the teachers aiming to help the student achieve satisfactory results. In addition to recording and tracking the results of the teaching process, teachers have the task of determining, through direct observation, the frequent or recurring character traits of the students, all in order to recognize and reveal the expressive talents of children.

For children over eight years, the MI8 test is performed based on which we compare the results obtained during the teaching process and the immediate observation, which confirms or does not confirm the previously obtained results of expressing certain talents for each individual student.

Goals of the teaching process

The first goal of such a holistic way of education is to provide students with space and time during which they will have the opportunity to find their passion, and teachers have the opportunity to recognize the student’s talents for certain activities. Another aim is to discover, develop and nurture children’s talents. The third goal is to provide the necessary educational and pedagogical support to the students in their expression. The fourth goal is to build and maintain the self-confidence of the students at the highest level.

Public presentation of the work and acquired knowledge

At the end of each semester (end of December) and school year (half of June), students present their work and gained knowledge at school exhibitions called School & School – ShowDown Expo, where students finally have the opportunity to confirm all their discoveries and acquired potentials.
ShowDown Expo is a public test for all participants in the teaching process.
