Industrial design is the easiest to explain as an artistic aspiration or the need for each item or product to be combined with a unique spirit, functionality and simplicity. Items need not be added to ornaments that would hide or repair the ugly and shapeless parts, rather than shaping these parts in a beautiful, artistic way and the object will be beautiful in its own right.
It is precisely the aim of the program that the children, future designers, will learn the process of simplifying the subject, by looking at all the objects analytically, which means that the subject is first disaggregated to the constituent elements, then they are trying to optimally shape, analyzing the relationship between the elements this way by offering the optimal solution of the whole that meets the basic principles of industrial design: simplicity, functionality and delightful ergonomic design.
Simple, functional and lovingly designed is the one that follows the purpose of the object (for example, a chair that calls us to sit on it and rest, or a lunch that’s supposed to catch it). Ergonomics is a modern scientific discipline that is the task of exploring human organism and behavior, and provides data on the customization of objects that people come into contact with. All this is part of the teaching process that will enable students to acquire, explore, create and develop their own subject through practical work that will meet the basic criteria of a well-designed product.
The technical and educational part of the program implies; work in workshops, get acquainted with sketch geometry and ergonomics, history of product design. The practical part of the program implies; making models using simple, inexpensive and eco-friendly materials that can be found all around us. In this way, students are ecologically alert but also motivated to use every opportunity to recycle and exploit all that is permanently or temporarily rejected, giving them a completely new or different life.
By the end of the curriculum, students will be able to independently explore, design and develop a demo project “eco product”, which will also be part of the semi-annual or final closing event of the School & School ShowDown Expo.
Classes are held in both mother language and English. The percentage of lectures in English depends on the average level of knowledge of the whole classroom.
